On today's menu, we serve up a veritable feast. Indulge in garage-ska-punk-post-grunge-emo-revival-other-meaningless-label -nonsense below.
Alley Life - Out With The Old (In With The New)
Been bumping this track for the better part of a decade already, ever since it was featured on the seminal soundtrack of THPS2. Beware, its contagious.
The Zutons - Oh Stacey (Look What You've Done)
Don't really know what to say about this group, they sorta defy labelling and grouping. Take a listen and you'll get what I mean. I can tell you though that they hail from Liverpool and oh wait I've found a label for them. "Psychedelic cartoon punk". Hope that's more helpful to you than it was for me..
SR-71 - Right Now
I went around thinking this song was titled "Kick Me When I'm High" for the longest time until someone enlightened me on the true title. Regardless, this track still possesses one of the meanest drum/guitar combos to ever rock your head to. Don't sleep on this.
Hot Hot Heat - Goodnight, Goodnight
This 80s influenced outfit is instantly catchy. No explanation needed. They're so good I'm throwing in another song right here. You Owe Me An IOU
Thea Gilmore - Razor Valentine
Now this song is positively dripping with emo-ness. Or should I say negatively with emotion. Whatever. Its something that you might hear over the end credits of some poignant movie. Would be good for Romeo & Juliet I must say..
